Stupid dog....

Well the baby is doing good. All he does is eat, sleep, burp and crap. I'm back at work and Lisa will continue to be home with him until April. Last night I painted a set of wooden letters spelling, A N D R E W, and mounted them in his room; looks really cute.

Marley's continuing to be a pain in the ass. He'd knocked over one of my cinder-block fortresses which i built to protect the automatic sprinkler valves. I've since rebuilt it and reinforced it. He's also ate a number of sprinkler heads so yesterday I replaced a number of plastic heads and risers with galvanized steel risers and brass heads he can't chew through.

If that's not enough, he's eaten the trim around the side garage door. Admittedly, it was cheap trim; someone used interior trim around an outside door. It was made of compressed particle board so it weathered poorly and was easy for him to chew through. So I've picked up a new trim set made of Douglas Fir. I'll be cutting and mounting it later this week. I'll probably use screws rather than nails to prevent him from pulling it out of the house. :o/

If that's not enough, over the winter he chewed the electric igniter off the gas BBQ pit. As a quick fix we bought a nylon cover for the BBQ. Well... he's since torn the cover to shreds. So yesterday I picked up a 10' nylon come-along strap for about 15-bucks to secure the cover to the BBQ. Literally, within one hour, he'd chewed through the strap in three locations and was swinging the metal hooks around by the strap.

Granted it doesn't help that our cat sits on top of the BBQ and taunts him all day. As such he has a knack for pushing to the BBQ all over the back yard despite the brakes being locked on the wheels. But I'm really not sure of what to do about this one. Half of me wants to build a brick enclosure for the grill to sit within, which would prevent it from getting pushed around the back yard, yet even that wouldn't protect the controls (and igniter button) from being eaten off again. *Sigh*

In other news we got a Wii Fit and have been having a blast playing with that. It actually gives you a pretty remarkable workout, but like any fitness machine, I just hope it we can keep it up.

Just a quick update. I'm still basically off work for the next two weeks working half-days from home. Andrew's been settling in and has been doing really well.
