80's Party Update...

So this past weekend was Mike and Jen's big 80's Party. They spent much of Friday getting the yard all ready,

and I stopped by after work to setup the speakers, projector, and give the A/V system a quick once-over.

Saturday came, and Lisa and I (Justin was with his dad) did a big Costco run getting tons of food, and a new dresser for the baby's room. We chilled for a while got dressed up in our 80's attire and headed over around 4:30 or so. The party was slow starting but picked up as the night went on. There were tons of Material Girls, punk rockers donning their Dead Kennedy's t-shirts, and Vanilla Ice wannabes (you know who you are). Andrew came with Ashley, and Kimi eventually showed up with Chris. We all had a good time, but the music turned out to be a pain in the ass. As the night went on wireless connection continually disconnected, and so I had to fall back to a poor assortment of mp3s that were available on the laptop which occupied me most of the evening. We did the usual bonfire, and Mike had setup ping-pong, and beer-pong tables. Lisa, Kimi and Chris were jammin' tending the bar, a funny fate for the pregnant girl :o). We had a good dance-floor going a few time during the evening, and eventually I had to take the first swing at the Rubic's Cube pinata. Lisa and I finally bailed around 11:30 or so while the party was still in full swing, and I hear it went on all night long. Good show bro!

Sunday we worked on cleaning up the house all freakin day long. I moved all my clothes out of the old office and into our bedroom, and got the new baby's dresser out of the box and all setup. We washed dishes, did laundry, I did a bit of painting inside, and mowed the lawns. Once we were burnt out we hunkered down and watched Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay; a disgusting, politically edgy, and funny as hell movie. I couldn't believe they offed the NPH in this one! We got Justin back around 8 last night, BSed a while and turned in...

here are more wedding pictures than you can shake at stick at. Well, you probably could, but you'd need an awfully big stick.

Another weekend update...

Another busy weekend... Friday after work I did a bank run, and got a hair cut before Lisa and I hooked up. I took her to ShangRiLa in Lodi, the best Japanese cuisine in the area IMHO. After a great dinner and a couple glasses of wine for me, we headed up to the movie theater. We were looking forward to checking out the new movie Pineapple Express as we were in the mood for a bit of comedy, but the showing that was just starting had sold out. We settled for tickets to see Hancock about an hour later. We passed the hour over a couple coffees at Starbucks, bought some movie munchies and hid them in her purse, and headed in for the movie. Hancock was actually a pretty great flick. It was a fairly unique take on the perils and stresses of having super powers, and Will Smith did a pretty damn good job keepin' it real. I'd definitely recommend.

Saturday morning Lisa had to work, and I loaded up Marley into the Pilot and went to my Grandparents in Stockton to celebrate my brother, and my cousins birthdays. We had a great time. Played a bit of pool vollyball; Mike and I vs. Justin and Jessica. We tied two games. Had some good eats. Marley was a hit had a great time. He even jumped into the pool a couple times. His swimming needs some work.

Some time last week Marley had chewed through control wire for one of the automatic sprinkler valves in the back yard and left the sprinklers half-running all day long. So, after the party, I stopped by Lowes and spent most of the day re-running the control line through a 1/2" PVC pipe, down into a cinder-block fortress I built around the sprinkler valve. I'd like to see him get into THAT. :o)

Sunday Lisa and I spent just chillin at home. We started moving all my clothes from our old "office", soon to be nursery, and into our bedroom. This was no small task as we both had a shit-load of clothes and had to bag up about 4 garbage bags full for Goodwill to pull it off. We worked while watching the semi-new movie Stoploss on OnDemand, another fantastic movie I'd highly recommend.

...and well, that's about it, back to the work week....

The weekend update...

Yeah I had to put the 'big news' in a post all on it's own, but here's what else has been going on this past weekend.

I've spent the weekend sledgehammering and removing a concrete slab, and a concrete divider in our backyard which divided a little flowerbed next to the patio, and which ran along the house to the water faucet. It had become uneven, and the flowerbed was just too much to maintain and made it very difficult to mow around, so it's all being covered up with dirt, and I'm planting lawn across the whole thing to make it all uniform.

Ultimately, I want to build a new 24" deep flowerbed with a brick and morter divider to run along the west side of the backyard, again to be uniform with the rest of the yard.

Sunday we got up and took Marley to Discount Pet Food on Kettleman to get his second vaccination shots. There was a good sized line of dogs, all barking up a storm, but Marley was on very good behavior and sat quietly in the cart. We got him a few more toys and dog dishes; he's pretty well setup now... lucky dog.

Happy dad reports....

IT'S A BOY!
We picked up my mom, and had our third sonogram on Friday afternoon. This is the one where they check and measure all the organs, and counts the vertebre, ribs, and so on. Lisa also had to get labwork done that tests for Down's Syndrome, as well as a number of other potential issues. But so far everything looks normal, and we found out it's going to be a boy! Looks like the Emerson name will live on another generation. :o)
