Nothing too exciting to post. I did a 46 mile ride yesterday to the Cosumnes River Preserve again. It was a great day to be outside after the recent heat wave. After riding out there so many times, I'd really like to walk the couple of trails they have. It's a very cool area.

Last night we had Kitt and Ryan over and watched Jarhead. I hadn't seen it before and it was a pretty unique depiction of what it's like to be a foot-soldier in an age when all the wars are fought from the air. Not what I was expecting, but a good movie.

Eighm's washing her car for the first time today, and I'm working from home a bit since I'm taking tomorrow off. We'll be taking Eighm, her parents and Sean and Ryan to San Francisco for the day for Paula's birthday. We have tickets to check out Alcatraz and a Titanic exhibit at the Metreon. Pics to come...

Record Setting Temps

Holy Allah it was hot today. We made the commitment to go up to Valley Springs and wash Poppy our german shepard before she goes in for vaccination shots next week. This on the day that would end up being a day of record-setting heat for northern California. The 116F heat, along with intermittant black-outs, yeah it gets better, made for a helluva day. Eighm drove us there and back and is having fun with the new car, and her mom made us some good dinner which took her almost four hours to heat up due to the black outs.

The official for Stockton (from NOAA): todays 113F beats 1971's 105F.

Tomorrow we're going to a baby shower for Eighm's niece Sarah. We just got home from Target, getting her a gift cert, and other baby type paraphernalia. Aight time to get cleaned up and get un-sweaty.

Hot as Hades

109F today, and triple digits in store all week means very little biking or any other outdoor activities. I did a six mile walk last night around 9PM that wasn't too bad, but even at night it's not very comfortable. Today was just work late, come home, play PREY (new FPS PC game), sleep in front of the fan for a couple hours, E.R. Season 5 on DVD, and Taco Bell. W00t. :o)

New 06 Civic

As of Monday the 10th, Eighmee is the proud new owner of a new, gray, 06 Honda Civic coupe. We went to Stockton Honda with Ryan and had a good experience working out the details of getting her the car. I think we got a pretty reasonable deal. This being her first car she also had to start her first insurance policy, over the phone, from the dealership. This is not the funnest thing to do over the phone in the first place, but the call center rep from the unnamed insurance company turned out to be a pretty unhelpful jerk.

But that done, we had a nice drive up to Valley Spring to show off her new car to her parents. Then yesterday we stopped by my insurance agent who was a lot more helpful in getting her new policy sorted out. Then we headed to Target, and she had a fun time picking out car accessories.

I nailed down a little 10-mile ride last night before dinner.

It's been a busy past few weeks at work with the change of the fiscal year, and new implementations going on left and right.

Friday we went and saw the new Pirates of the Carribean 2 at the city center theater. Not bad, good story, but didn't have the same cool piraty feel as the first one. It was a lot more comedic and I think that took a lot away.

Yesterday (Sat), it was bloody hot (103 or so) we had taken some furniture from home, part of my old bedroom set, to moms for storage. Later I took off for a 21 mile ride and we had Kitt, Ryan and Sean over for dinner and a movie. We watched Interview with a Vampire.

Today's been a lazy day so far. Got up at about 11, and just been chillin with some coffee for the time being. Not sure what the day will hold. Perhaps a moderate bike ride or something. Looking forward to getting out, but it looks like it's gonna be another hot day.

Independence Day

Got up and had a pretty chill morning. Made some bacon, egg and hashbrowns.

Got suited up for a bike ride around noon complete with SPF45, and mom called when I was walking out the door; the flourescent lights in her garage went out and needed to get them replaced. So, detour to Orchard's for new lights. That done, I got home and did a 18-mile ride around downtown scouting out the Weber Point area where they do the fireworks in Stockton.

Eighm made a bucket of daiquiris, and we'll be bbqin' some tri-tip and chicken shortly to have with some baked potatos and french bread. For now just chillin, watchin some Court TV.
