Last weekend was Halloween. Ryan bought an expensive pirate costume off the Internet, and Eighmee had been working on a making him a pirate hat from scratch out of nogahide. It took her a helluva lot of work but it turned out quite well and the costume was a hit. We all worked on Halloween but Eighmee and I didn't dress up, few did where I work.
After work we went to Lauren's last local vollyball game of the season. Their team, Tokay, made league so they'll continue to play but in other further away towns around northern California. Ryan went to the game wearing his Pirate costume and got lots of looks.
Yesterday after work I rode my bike over to mom's place. It's getting dark and cold really early now and it was basically night time by the time I got there around 5:45. She wasn't off work until about 6:30 so I hung out and watched tv until she got home. I think weekday bicycling is done until spring. When I got home Ryan and Sean were over. Ryan had to leave to take his bro to the train station in Stockton, and Eighmee sent me to the store to get some grub for the night. Frozen pizza, onion rings and tater tots. w00t. :o)
In other news I also took my car in last Saturday for some winter maintenance. New brake pads, rear-diff fluid, a new battery (the existing one was over 3 years old), and a fuel-injector / throttle-body cleaning. It was pricy ($541), but I'm loving the renewed acceleration and braking. It was mainly in preperation for another trip up to the snow for Eighmee's birthday in January. Wanted to spend the money before it was gone for christmas.
The 'Race for Awareness' (5k, 3-mile, breast cancer fundraiser walk/run-a-thon) was a lot of fun. As expected Zack and Lauren won in their divisions again and really kicked butt overall. Eighmee's parents didn't run. Her dad had broken a toe and wasn't up to it, though they would have won by default had they just entered. I however was blown away that I won in my division (Male 20-30). I never did anything like this in school so it was quite special getting to walk up an get a medal. Makes me wanna keep up the running. :o)
Tuesday myself and a number of people from work took a van ride to visit another local health plan who'se interested in the medical referral processing system I've written here at work. This was the second presentation we've done for them, and it sounds like they'll be interested in the getting the program. I believe they would be the sixth health plan to have at least acquired the software. Pretty weird knowing that many people are using software you've written.
