Well it's been a pretty intense past couple of weeks. We've been going through a lot of positional and role changes at work. We've had a handful of people leave (almost entirely on thier own accord). Though it has heavily changed the things I'm working on, and set priorities, it hasn't really affected my particular job or title. It will be interesting to ultimately see how things pan out once the changes settle down.

Last weekend we had Eighmee's niece Lauren spend the night and we had a zombie movie marathon. We watched the original Night of the Living Dead, then the remake of Dawn of the Dead, before we all fell asleep watching Resident Evil. We ordered pizza and made Taquitos. All in all quite a fun time.

Also last week I ordered a new computer to replace our current AMD Athlon XP 2700+ (1gb ram, and ATI Radeon 9600Pro AGP video). Ryan did a major upgrade last month which spurred me into ordering this upgrade. It's an AMD64 3700+, on an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium mobo, with 2gb of Corsair RAM and a GeForce4 6600GT PCI-Express video. I haven't received the machine yet, but it'll be a fun upgrade. I'll also be moving from Windows xp, to xp x64 Edition.

I also got a new router to replace the crappy, existing Linksys we've been using over the past few months. Eighmee was having all kinds of problems keeping an ICQ conversation with the old router. We received the new 3Com Wireless 11g router yesterday and so far it's been bliss.

This weekend we'll be attending the Susan G. Komen Walk for Awareness (breast cancer awareness). It's a 5k (about 3 mile) run / walk in Lodi that we attended last year. Should be fun. Okay enough for now. :o)

This past Sunday was Eighmee and my eleven years together. We did a road trip with Ryan, Kitt, and Lauren to San Gregorio Beach in Half Moon Bay, and had a great dinner at Half Moon Bay Brewing Company.

Work Trip to Memphis, TN.

Finally back to home sweet home. I spent this past week, monday through friday in Memphis, Tennessee aiding a DRE installation at a local health plan. The flights to and from were quite long with a stop overs in Dallas, TX in each direction. I got double-upgraded on my rental car, a white Chevy Trailblazer. Their tech team was pretty sharp and painless to work with, and it was a nice opportunity to check out a city / state I may not have otherwise endeavoured to see. Memphis was the home of Elvis Presley, and is one of the most undisputed musical cities in the country though I unfortunately didn't get to check out Elvis' home, Graceland, while I was there. Many aspects of Memphis reminded me of San Francisco, such as the contrast between old and new; rich and poor; beauty and blight. I enjoyed most evenings walking around the nearby Beale street downtown getting to take in many of the live bands that played outdoors or in the numerous blues cafes and bars. Meals were also quite good, where it seemed each included some type of 'plank' of bbq'd meat. I like meat, but this past week has been the most meat I've eaten in quite a long time. Memphis is also currently home to many of the displaced victims of Hurricane Katrina with recently hit New Orleans, LA. Eighmee got to spend my time away sharpening her driving skillz driving herself to and from work, as well as dropping me off, and picking me up at the Sacramento airport. It was a good, fun week, but it's nice finally being back home.
